Error $2.50 1927 Gold Indian Quarter Eagle Retained Reverse Cud - ANACS MS63
Here is a very high grade example of a gold error coin.
Retained Cuds, such as seen on the reverse of this coin, are produced when a piece of the die breaks off completely, but remains trapped within the collar, continuing to strike the coin afterward.
The grade of MS63 assigned by ANACS (Cert. No. 826918) is entirely appropriate for this coin. It is well struck, unblemished, and very lustrous.
